The Strong AI Lab, founded by Professor Michael Witbrock, focuses on the intersection of machine learning, reasoning and natural language understanding with an additional goal on achieving the best social impacts of increasingly powerful AI.

LAL’s AI Group, headed by Jaco Fourie, works towards excellence in AI, machine learning, computer vision, and deep learning in the fields of agriculture, horticulture, viticulture and aquaculture.

The bioDS lab, founded by Alex Gavryushkin, develops data-driven modeling-based learning approaches for biomedical applications, focusing on evolutionary and systems biology.

UoA’s ML Group, headed by Joerg Wicker, covers diverse machine learning topics, carried out in a high number of theoretical and applied research projects.
